Polsinelli has appointed Brian Larivee as counsel in the IP department and the Hatch Waxman Biologics practice in its Boston office.

With a background representing start-up ventures to Fortune 500 biotech giants, Larivee offers a perspective on the intersection of patent litigation law and the business dynamics of biotechnology companies having advised CEOs, CLOs, global franchise leads and boards.

Patrick Woolley, chair of the IP department at Polsinelli, said: “Brian brings a wealth of experience from the biotechnology sector and his perspective from his in-house roles will be a great asset to our clients.”

He also highlighted the firm's anticipation to use Larivee's skills to strengthen their capabilities, particularly within the pharmaceutical sector.

During his time as an in-house litigation counsel, Larivee spearheaded the development and execution of litigation and licensing strategies for a pioneering molecular diagnostics company focusing on gene sequencing, computational biology, and diagnostic software.

Additionally, he played a role in forming strategies and overseeing counsel worldwide for a Fortune 500 biotechnology enterprise, managing patent disputes spanning small molecule pharmaceuticals, biologic medicines, and biosimilars.

In response to joining Polsinelli, Larivee said: “I'm thrilled to join a firm with leading practices in IP and health care. I am looking forward to helping Polsinelli expand its practice in Boston and contributing to the continued growth of the firm’s litigation practice, especially in biotechnology.”
